What friends are for

In a world where people can get obsessed with how many friends or followers they have online, it’s easy to forget what real friends are for. The internet is a great place to create loose ties, far reaching networks, and somewhat passive audiences that watch what you do or what your organizations does with mild interest. But these passive audiences may be just as happy to spread bad news as they are to celebrate good news. Real friends are the one who know who you are, what you stand for. They are the ones who, if you need them to, will come to your defense. Even in a virtual world of social networks and information overload, real friends still matter.
